Janitorial Integrity

I love the story about Alexander the Great. We know from history he was a conquering general in the 350 BC era. He started out by succeeding his father to the throne at the age of 19. He was mentored as a young boy by none other than Aristotle. He was able to conquer much of the known world of his day all before the age of 34 when he died.

During his reign there was a story about one of his young officers being brought on charges of cowardice. A serious charge for a military man. The one interesting caveat regarding this particular trial was that the young man shared the same last name as Alexander giving him some affinity for the young man.

After hearing all the evidence in the trail Alexander reached his decision. He had decided to give the young man a second chance with one noted challenge. He made this very important point in giving him a second opportunity by saying this, “going forward young man I want you to either change your behavior, or please change your last name”

At Patton Building Services, we have a great team of cleaners and leaders. I am particularly sensitive to those who join our team representing us with integrity, especially with my family name attached to our business. Two of six core values at Patton’s deal with character. Honesty and exemplary behavior. We pride ourselves in telling the truth even when it is painful and treating others the way we would like to be treated.
